L.A Friday June 8th

June 10, 2007

Today in L.A as Mrs.E graded every students westing game notebook the students continued watching  the movie of the book The Westing Game which everyone in the grade agrees is completely different than the book. If you missed school this day then listen to just how different the movie is than the book. To start, the title is Get a Clue not The Westing Game. Angela Wexler is marrying E.J Plum not Denton Deer. Chris Theodorakis’s hobby is computer games not birdwatching. This movie is okay but not like the book.

L.A. Friday January 19

January 21, 2007

In L.A. class today every student was assigned a scene from the play on J.R.R Tolkien. some students had to work together because there were more students than scenes. Next we were handed a large strip of colored lined paper. I mention that they were colored because most of the boys in my class including me were given a pink strip. On these strips of paper we wrote the main idea of the scene that we were assigned. I myself was wrote the main idea of scene ten. Our teacher then put the scenes on the board in order with her interesting circle magnets. Each person then read his/her scene in sequence. Following this our teacher reminded us all to bring our literature book and paper home over the weekend because our meetings will be on Monday. I hope everyone brought their literature book and paper home because if you didn’t you will more than likely lose points on your grade. I apologise to anyone who was counting on this scribe because it was late by two days.

Science Class Friday January 19

January 19, 2007

I can’t tell you much about science today except for that we had a test. The test was on what we have learned in our notebooks so far. I highly recommend studying for this test if you missed school today. Our teacher informed every class that every week will be a new system. After the test we watched some of a movie on skeletons.

L.A Thursday January 18

January 19, 2007

Today in L.A class we finished reading the play on Ronald or J.R.R Tolkien that we started on Wednesday. This play was about the famous author of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, J.R.R Tolkien. I can assume by the greatness of the movies of his books most people are familiar with what he writes and now you might just read the books if you haven’t already. This play began with Tolkien as a child stepping on a tarantula and being saved. Following this incident the future author left from the desert where they were and when’t back to his home in England with his mother while his father stayed behind. Next in a tragic turn of events Tolkiens father dies and is buried before Tolkien is able to arrive at the funeral. The play then explains events that led J.R.R to being an author and how he found a lover. An event mentioned that gave the author the idea for his first book was a sentence that entered his mind, in a hole there was a hobbit. At the time he didn’t understand what a hobbit was, anything about it, or that it would become such a wonderful book. Another well known author helped Tolkiens fist book get published. The author was C.S Lewis the author of The Chronicles of Narnia. The hobbit thought of was named Bilbo Bagins a character well known by fans.

Scribe For L.A. Wed. 12/20/06

December 20, 2006

If you need to know what went on in L.A. on this day, read on because it Will say. In L.A. this day Mrs. Ekstrom informed all the classes that we are going to start a new book genre, fantasy. Most people including myself were overjoyed at the sound of this. Everyone was also informed that last year when Mrs. Ekstrom did the wonderful genre of fantasy the entire grade read a book called The Giver. Mostly every student in my class jumped to the conclusion of that we would have to do this. Fortunately this was not the case. We have the choice of two different books to read from The Giver and Mrs. Frisby and the Rat Of Nimph. We would have more choices but the other fantasies Mrs. E had most kids have read in past grades. Our teacher was not happy about this. after giving us our choices she passed out a paper were we wrote down our first and second pick. We had no choice of our second pick since there are only two books we can pick. All the students were informed that Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimph was a clear fantasy and good. The Giver was told to be a bit science fiction and needs some thought to read. It is also Mrs. Ekstroms favorite of the two. I would personally recommend The Giver even though I have not read it. The author of it is gited.
